AMPLIFICATION: COMMITTEE FOR RACIAL JUSTICE presents: A TIME OF CIVIL UNREST: WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE

Date & Time: Sunday, May 2nd, 6:30pm-8:00pm PT
Location: Zoom. To get more info and register, call Joanne at 310-422-5431.
Details: The Chauvin trial and all the protests over this past year are helping to move us toward a time of reckoning on race in a way that this country has not experienced before. The conviction of one man will not make all the difference. We will still experience civil unrest because civil rights injustices are still all around us, but the Chauvin trial has contributed to a sea change in awareness in our country of how much has to be changed. Committee for Racial Justice (CRJ) wants to help galvanize the resistance to injustice and racism that has been brought to light.

Our resource people will include Robert Howard, a restorative justice trainer, group facilitator, and conflict mediator who has been with us at CRJ before; Dr. Roslyn Satchel, an active member of Black Lives Matter and a scholar-activist who researches and teaches about communication, ethics, and law; and Attorney George Brown, a key drafter of the SM Public Safety Advisory Committee’s report which is leading to the formation of the first police oversight commission in Santa Monica’s history. Come join this important discussion.
