FACEBOOK LIVE WITH BECKY THOMPSON, QUEER, ANTIRACIST, FEMINIST SCHOLAR

Date & Time: Sunday, September 12th, 12:00pm PDT
Location: WP4BL Facebook page, here
Details: JOIN US LIVE on the WP4BL Facebook to hear a conversation between eminent scholar, activist, artist and yogi Dr. Becky Thompson, and WP4BL members Dr. Molly Talcott, Brittney Pollock, and Laura Coholan.

A live on queer, antiracist feminisms, this hour-and-a-half conversation is NOT to be missed! This conversation will delve into Becky’s book, A Promise And A Way Of Life : White Antiracist Activism, and her broader work. We will explore how we build healthy, resilient white antiracist cultures, how we focus on embodied trauma healing for social change, and how we seed the makings of a new, queer, antiracist feminist world with our actions, our creativity, and our solidarity with Black, Brown, Indigenous and people of color-led liberation movements.

Some questions & topics you can expect us to explore:

⁣💭 How can white people can develop healthy antiracist identities?

💭 ⁣ The origin story of the book A Promise and a Way Of Life, and what Becky learned when writing it.

💭 How white people can be accountable antiracist allies, while also holding all of our other identities -- such as queerness, transness, femme-ness, poorness, faith tradition, citizenship, ability, etc. -- with love, grace and rigor.

💭 Who A Promise and a Way of Life was dedicated to, and where they are now.

💭 The healing power of embodiment, and the ways that embodiment can disrupt white supremacy culture, capitalism, and the other systems of oppression we live under the weight of on a daily basis.

💭 ⁣ How white people can overcome guilt and shame as we show up for antiracist solidarity.

💭 A look at the ways that white feminists (of any gender expression) can be accountable to broader multiracial feminist movement.

💭 What white people can do to play our role in the struggle forward towards liberation.
