IIYC-LA: MARCH FOR PUVUNGNA

Date & Time: Friday, May 21, 2:30pm PDT
Location: 5620 E Atherton St. Long Beach, CA 90815
Details: The International Indigenous Youth Council - Los Angeles (IIYC-LA) invites you to join them and our community in a march to raise awareness about the ongoing struggle to preserve Puvungna, the creation site of both the Acjachemen and Tongva/Kizh/Gabrieleno peoples from further desecration and campus development from CSULB. This march will also be in solidarity with indigenous relatives in Ecuador fighting for sovereignty and land protection from Chevron.

If you currently reside within LA Basin your presence will be greatly needed to support our Acjachemen and Tongva relatives in saving what is left of this sacred site, so if you are in the capacity, please come out and be with us in prayer.

There is a map of the meeting place of the march available. We will open up in prayer and intention at Whaley Park (in front of the Community Center) at 2:30pm PST. The address is: 5620 E Atherton St. Long Beach, CA 90815. Parking will be located to the left and right of the center (accessed on Atherton St.) The total distance of the march is 2.3 miles.

If you'd like to attend but need accessibility accommodations, email us at losangeles@indigenousyouth.org. we can share our entire route map with you so you can drive alongside the route and get to hear all the guest speakers.
We will be returning to the entrance of Puvungna at 5pm where we'll be greeted by two Acjachemen relatives who will guide us inside. Please do not enter Puvungna without first meeting with those who've invited us into this ceremonial site. Please come in a prayerful way. We will have guest speakers to share the hxstory of Puvungna as well as what we can do to continue to support the protection of this sacred site.
