LA CAN: OPPOSE CITY COUNCIL PASSING NEW 41.18 ORDINANCE

Date & Time: Wednesday, July 28th, 9:00am PDT
Location: Los Angeles City Hall, 200 N Spring St.
Details: City Council is set to vote on Wednesday on a revised ordinance 41.18 (link), introduced by Councilperson Ridley Thomas, that lists all places where unhoused people, street vendors, etc. are NOT allowed to be within LA city limits, and which virtually leaves no place where they can be without being criminalized. Please join us in front of City Hall to support our solidarity partner organizations in opposing this ordinance (meeting agenda here). Masks are encouraged for this outdoor rally & press conference - please check the AWARE-LA website for updates.

For more information, please see this statement from the Services Not Sweeps Coalition which explains the reasons for coming to voice strong opposition and strategize for the future.

From LA CAN: "The amended 41.18 won't just criminalize houseless Angelenos and banish them from almost everywhere in the city, it will completely change how all of us are allowed to use public space. Call your councilmember and demand that they OPPOSE this cruel, ineffective, and draconian ordinance! Head to the link in bio for our full analysis."
