What is Study + Action?

Study + Action is a 6-session virtual political education workshop series - for folks who have participated in at least one of WP4BL’s programs, and want to continue building their analysis and leadership to organize around ending white support for state violence and dismantling white supremacy. There are readings and other resources to engage with each week before attending each session. Each week’s 2.5 hour session combines reflections on that pre-material with strategies that resonate with our hearts and minds with videos, poems, art, embodiment practices, and other creative strategies to ground us in the content. After we dive into the content, we will take virtual action and fundraise directly for our solidarity partners.

Pillars of Study + Action

  • Political Education

  • Action

  • Personal Transformation

  • Relational Organizing

  • Relational Fundraising

DESIRED OUTCOMES

Through participation, we hope to hold space for all to learn and grow, and especially to increase your understanding of:

  • the history of white supremacy, including

    • its effects on Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, as well as white folks

    • the ways it currently operates in us and our society

  • the pillars of white supremacy, including slavery, capitalism, genocide, colonialism and war, and

    • WP4BL’s approach to dismantling white supremacy

  • the ongoing resistance to white supremacy that has been led by Black, Indigenous and People of Color, and

    • the ways that these resistance efforts have been attacked through state terror

  • importance of body-based awareness practices in supporting social justice and disrupting white supremacy

  • our Solidarity Partners

  • our analysis of and intentional approach to reparations and fundraising

We also hope S+A will increase your ability/opportunity to:

  • engage in deep self-reflection and practice body-based awareness

  • practice using the AWARE-LA Communication Guidelines
